THE BUSINESS
City Beach is Australia’s leading surf and outdoor fast fashion retailer that opened its doors back in 1985. From bikinis to skateboards, City Beach offers a huge range of apparel styles for men, women, and kids. Whether on the hunt for clothing, swimwear, shoes, accessories, or hardware; City Beach is the go-to. They have a simple philosophy of employing the people that live the City Beach life and giving their customers what they want, when they want it!
The Objectives
it works were engaged to drive the selection and implementation of a new ERP and Point of Sale system to replace the ageing grocery retail based green screen system and in-house written Point of Sale system. The existing system was supported by a single developer and presented a risk to the company with key man dependency, reliability and scalability issues and limited ability to integrate with modern systems.
Prior to engaging it works, City Beach had made a decision to go with Microsoft Dynamics D365 ERP and POS and were looking to it works for implementation strategy advice.
it works had previous experience with other clients having difficulties implementing Microsoft D365 and recommended evaluation of alternative Microsoft offerings before committing to the project.
The expertise provided by it works:
it works was selected to lead the project to select the technology and provide Project Management and Business Analysis services to;
Document AS IS process maps and devise TO BE Business Processes for the entire business, including product lifecycle management, purchase orders and stock receipts, store replenishment, online order fulfilment and finance operations
Evaluate Microsoft Dynamics D365 vs Microsoft NAVISION and LS Retail POS to meet the business requirements
Manage the partners responsible for the ERP and POS implementation, including all integrations to STEP PIM, online store and Accellos WMS
Manage the Business Analysis team to build business requirements for solution consultants to configure and customise the solution
Manage end to end testing, triage issues and assignment across multiple vendor partners to resolve
Build and manage the Go Live implementation plan and activities
The Outcome
it works helped the client avoid a potentially costly mistake in selecting Microsoft Dynamics D365 ERP and POS by identifying risks in the platform capabilities and scalability and lack of local Australian implementation expertise.
A successful launch of the Microsoft NAVISON ERP and LS Retail POS across 60 stores with increased agility to adopt new retail technologies and improved business decision making through accurate and timely BI reporting.
The project delivered:
A new ERP for Head Office staff functions, including buying, warehouse and inventory management, store replenishment, online order fulfilment, accounts payable, accounts receivable and BI reporting
A new Point of Sale system in stores with real time inventory updates
Robust warehouse receiving and accounts payable procedures
Accurate inventory in warehouse and stores and timely sales data enabling more accurate forecasting and planning
A contemporary platform as the basis for a true omni-channel retail experience in stores and online
