The Objectives

it works were engaged to drive the implementation of a significant upgrade to the Retail Directions Retail Management System. Upgrades to RMS had been offered and rejected in the past due to a significant investment in customisations to the Pillow Talk version that would be lost in any upgrade without further significant investment. The new RMS version had significant improvements to the Item Management and Purchase Order management functionality and support for more contemporary devices in the warehouses.

The expertise provided by it works:

it works was selected to lead the project with Project Management and Business Analysis services to 

  • Manage the partners responsible for the upgrade, including all integrations to PIM, OMS and e-commerce with FLOW middleware 

  • Manage the documentation of customisations required  

  • Document all the business processes to be tested in the form of User Stories 

  • Document the test plan and assign resources for testing 

  • Manage the end to end testing of the new software version and the remediation of issues 

  • Manage the Go Live activities 

The Outcome

A successful launch of the RMS upgrade version. 

The project delivered: 

  • A new RMS for Head Office staff functions, including buying, warehouse and inventory management, sales order management and order fulfilment 

  • A new version of SMS Point of Sale system in stores 

  • A new version of warehouse management with support for Android based scanning devices 

  • End to end integrations regression tested 

  • A contemporary platform as the basis for implementation of a class leading Loyalty program
